Unsettled

Xia Gao
Acclaimed textiles artist, Xia Gao, uses fabric, screen-printing, and
light to tell her story of relocation and adaptation to Nebraska from
her native country, China. Gao screen-prints images of cornhusks
onto large pieces of perforated hand-dyed fabric. Images of
Nebraska’s urban and rural scenes appear when light passes through
the fabric.
This exhibition is in collaboration with the Textile Society of America conference.

A Mortal's Dream

Natasha Overholtzer
Natasha Overholtzer draws inspiration for her work from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She creates playful interpretations by installing small groups of her elegant jewelry in shadowboxes that represent each of the fairies in the play: Peaseblossom, Cobweb, and Mustardseed. Overholtzer created this work during her residency at the LUX.
