2020 LUX Summer Camps - Here's What You Need to Know

We are excited to announce that LUX Center for the Arts 2020 camp schedule is online now! To view the full camp schedule and to register, click here.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback on last year’s camp. Your suggestions have led us to make some improvements in our camp classes and processes.

**COVID-19 UPDATE posted March 18, 2020**
We are proceeding with equal parts optimism and caution for 2020 summer camps. We have decided to preemptively take the step to decrease camp sizes to 8 participants max, so with the instructor and assistant we keep our numbers at or below 10 people in each classroom. For camp care we will not limit the amount of spots available but split up into two separate groups if we have more than 8 enrolled. We will also be staggering the snack times and use of shared spaces to allow for sanitizing between groups. Handwashing and sanitizing was always asked of students before snack time but we will now ask that students wash and/or sanitize upon arrival at camp, before snack, and before going home.

For now, please keep your plans to join us and know that we'll give you as much notice as possible if anything has to change. This is a tough situation for all of us, but it has already shown us the power and resiliency of our community here in Nebraska. Stay tuned for more updates and some fun stay at home activity ideas posted on our Facebook and Instagram page in the coming days!

Parking during drop off and pick up will be easier in 2020, as staff will park elsewhere and the entire lot will be available.

We will also make some safety improvements based on your suggestions: Parents or guardians of campers ages 5-8 must now sign them out at the end of the day. Parents or guardians of children ages 9-12 must check out with the teacher in their child’s classroom. Youth ages 13-16 will be allowed to meet their ride in the parking lot or classroom.

There will be many new lesson plans in 2020! Repeat campers will be working on fresh new projects. Certain tried and true foundational lessons will remain – you really can’t start a painting class without going over the color wheel!

We are also happy to announce that almost all our beloved teaching artists will be returning in 2020. Stay tuned for the release of the 2020 camp t-shirt design as well. It’s going to be another groovy get-up!

LUX Memberships are a great way to save money when you enroll your child in multiple camps. LUX membership prices will be going up in 2020, the first raise in more than a decade. If you bought a membership last year to sign up for camps at 20% off, you still have the full 12 months to use it from the date it was purchased. That means no matter what time you bought your membership if you renew before January 1st you can do so at the old rate. The new rate for family memberships will be $100. If you renew before January 1st you can still get the current $70 rate.

Thank you for a great 2019 and we hope to see you all again in 2020!
