Explore your voice through creative expression! Expressions of Art and Hope is a series of free art classes for individuals living with and beyond cancer. These classes are usually held the second Monday of each month in collaboration with CHI St. Elizabeth and the LUX Center for the Arts. All participants must register individually. Classes take place at the LUX Center for the Arts from 6:00-8:00pm.

This 90-minute youth gift-making workshop will lead participants through making Mom a gift she’ll love! We can’t tell you exactly what it is because we don’t want to spoil the surprise – but each student will make two unique pieces just for Mom. Caregivers drop students off and pick them up with a wrapped and ready Mother’s Day present from the heart. Ages 5-10. 

In this four-week class, participants will learn the basics of drawing, worldbuilding, and character design.  Students will be led through each project using a variety of mediums and will be encouraged to draw from stories and experiences that inspire them to create original characters, locations, and narratives.  

Join Artist-in-Residence Maddie Hinrichs for this introduction to incorporating embroidery and sewn elements with traditional materials to create a unique, mixed-media artwork! All materials will be provided.

Each participant will receive a mini-canvas and the opportunity to try their hand at this exciting and challenging medium, which normally requires multiple layers and sessions.

Painting, drawing, mixed media and more! This class is a fun and exciting way for the beginning artist wanting to try a little bit of everything! Learn to use a variety of techniques and materials by focusing on a new medium and subject each week. 

Students will have a blast learning about different artists, painting techniques and styles each week. Student will make their own paintings while learning basic paint mixing and brushwork techniques. Lessons change from month to month so repeat class takers can try it all! 

Morning Care is perfect for busy parents or caregivers who have full mornings! Begin dropping off anytime between 8am-9am.

Students will be provided fun, easy, art activities that ease them into their day of camp!
