Program Description
This course will introduce basic techniques of woodblock printmaking such as multi-block printing, reduction woodcut, and white line woodcut methods.
Woodblock printing is one of the oldest printmaking processes. Students will explore traditional and contemporary examples of woodcut prints to gain an understanding of the possibilities of mark-making and color layering. This course will lead students through developing a multi-color drawing, transferring their image to a block, carving their design using chisels, and printing multi-layered prints with a press. All materials are provided for this class for adult students aged 16 and older.
