LUX has designed our private lessons for your safety and to allow parents and adult students to sign up online and keep the creativity flowing.

Private lessons are $35/hour for one person, $45/hour for two people, and $55/hour for three people. 1 hour lessons are recommended for kids ages 5-8 or 1.5 hour lessons for youth ages 9-13. 

During this time, we're only booking lessons in 4-week sessions. Private lessons are available to students who have completed their first year of kindergarten through adults (ages 5-105). Masks will be optional for both staff and students to participate in private lessons. Please notifiy the LUX if you are going to miss a lesson at least 2 hours prior to the start time.

We have four teaching studios and so we are offering lessons in four broad categories: pottery wheel, clay hand building, printmaking, and painting/drawing. In the lesson request form (linked below) you can detail more specific interests you may have within that category so we can pair you or your child with the best instructor.

Pottery Wheel – Ages 9+ learn how to throw, trim, and glaze pottery made on the wheel.

Clay Hand Building – Learn to build and glaze your own cups, plates, or sculptures using a variety of tools and techniques.   

Printmaking – Learn to screen print on fabric or block print on paper using multiple techniques.

Paint & Draw – Lessons are available in watercolor painting, acrylic painting, oil painting (teen and adult), landscape, portraiture, and more.

We ask that parents/guardians/guests do not stay in the classroom during private lessons.  This can create a difficult dynamic for instructors and students.  You can feel safe knowing that all staff that work with children at LUX Center must go through a background check before beginning work at LUX Center for the Arts.
