Woodblock Printmaking
Woodblock Printmaking
This course is designed to introduce and expand understanding of the aesthetic breadth of the woodblock printmaking heritage, as well as develop a familiarity with basic techniques of woodblock printmaking such as multi-block printing, and white-line woodcut methods.
Woodblock printing is one of the oldest printmaking processes. Students will explore traditional and contemporary examples of woodcut prints to gain an understanding of the possibilities of mark-making and color layering. This course will lead students through developing a multi-color drawing, transferring their image to a block, carving their design using chisels, and printing using a press.
