Intermediate Ceramics: Surface Design Techniques
Intermediate Ceramics: Surface Design Techniques
Get inspired with a variety of surface design techniques that can elevate your work and push it into new territory. In this class, you will learn how to add depth and dimension to your surfaces using sgraffito, inlay, water etching, wax resist, liquid latex, tape, stencils, underglazes, oxides, and more.
This class is designed for those familiar with the basics of working with clay and are confident in their forming abilities. It is recommended to attend the first class with some leather hard forms, though not necessary. Basic forms will also be provided by the instructor for the first class. Students will have access to both wheel and handbuilding studios to create their forms and practice surface design techniques.
This class will use B-Mix stoneware and conclude with a cone 6 oxidation firing. One bag of commercial stoneware, kiln firings, and related glazes are included. Students also have access to the studio during open hours throughout this four-week class. Please refer to the Open Studio Calendar in the Ceramics Center for the most up-to-date hours. This class is for Adults 16+.
Pre-registration is required.
