Youth Handbuilding with Clay Camp
Youth Handbuilding with Clay Camp
Get ready to get your hands messy and your imagination flowing! This creative camp for youth, age 9–11, invites campers to dive into the world of clay. Students will learn basic hand-building techniques—like slab building, coiling, and pinching—while making both sculptural and functional pottery. Campers will have fun shaping bowls, quirky creatures, and imaginative creations, experimenting with textures, patterns, and bright glazes to bring their ideas to life. This camp is perfect for young artists who love hands-on exploration, creativity, and turning a lump of clay into something amazing! All materials, tools, and firing are provided.
LUX camps are offered for kindergarten graduates through students who are 15 years old. All campers must have completed kindergarten (no exceptions) prior to attending camp and must have basic classroom skills. Students must be at least 9 years old to learn the pottery wheel and age 10 is even better, as the person throwing must be physically large enough to push the clay around. Please select camps based on your child's current age. Kids - Age 5-8 (must have completed Kindergarten), Youth - Age 9-11, and Teens - Age 12-15.
