Education Wing: Dolezal Studio

Explore your voice through creative expression! Expressions of Art and Hope is a series of free art classes for individuals living with and beyond cancer. These classes are usually held the second Monday of each month in collaboration with CHI St. Elizabeth and the LUX Center for the Arts. All participants must register individually. Classes take place at the LUX Center for the Arts from 6:00-8:00pm.

Join us on Saturday mornings for our 2-D with a Cup of Tea series, where participants will be exposed to a wide variety of 2-D mediums and techniques while enjoying a selection of hot tea and a fresh pot of coffee from Mo Java Café!

In this 4-week class, students are introduced to the fundamentals of painting with watercolors through still life, landscape, and projects of personal interest. All paints, brushes, and materials provided. This class is for students aged 16+. All materials, tea and coffee are provided.

In this workshop, students of all ages will learn the book binding process of Japanese Stab Binding. This method of binding paper together has been around since the conception of the book some 2000 years back and was primarily used in China, Japan and other Asian countries. All supplies are provided.

In this class, students learn to incorporate embroidery and sewn elements with traditional materials to create a unique, mixed-media artwork! All materials will be provided. This class is for adults 16+.

In this workshop, students will experiment with papermaking and colored pulp painting. All materials will be provided. Projects will be ready about two weeks after the workshop. This workshop is for adults 16+.

Learn to make your own fused glass object in this fun, family workshop!  You will be guided through the basics of creating one fused glass object/ornament. For youth, an adult must participate in the workshop. The tuition fee covers one individual, so you must register each adult and child attending. Classes are appropriate for ages 5+. Children 5-8 years of age must work with direct adult supervision. Glass projects will be ready two weeks from the class date.

Join with a date, family member, friend, or neighbor for a night of fun on the pottery wheel! You are guided through the basics of working on the pottery wheel in this fun and messy workshop! Each participant gets to keep one project from the evening which will be clear glazed and ready approximately two weeks after the workshop. This workshop is for adults 16+.
