February 5 – March 27 Opening Reception: February 5, 5-7pmLa Tierra Cortada![]() Eddie Dominguez Eddie Dominguez is nationally-known for his large scale works in clay and mixed media, with which he uses pattern and surface decoration to explore personal connections to land and place. In this solo exhibition, La Tierra Cortada which translates in English to The Earth Cut, Dominguez uses the human figure made of clay as the surface on which to carve the landscapes and terrains of New Mexico and Nebraska, the two places Dominguez calls home. This exhibition is a retrospective of this Chicago based artist who is best known for his photojournalism, produced from 1969-2004 when he worked for the Chicago Tribune. Carter has published two books, Sidewalk and Slim’s Table, and has won numerous awards including the Legends In Their Own Time award and the Pulitzer Prize in 1975 for his work with reporter William Mullen for The Faces of Hunger. The photographs in this exhibition chronicle the lives of inner-city children and adults and are on loan from the Chicago Tribune. Launch image viewer |

Learning to See: Art 101
Learn to understand the piece of art in front of you with an introduction to the principles and elements of art. Explore the processes artists over the course of history have used to create masterpieces. Tackle beginning level art projects with step-by-step instruction in manipulating graphite, charcoal, and acrylics.

Knitted Creations
Students work from finger weaving to working with knitting needles to create scarves, coin purses or wallets, and coasters. Yarn, needles and lots of inspiration provided!!

Beaded Jewelry Sampler
Learn the basics of stringing beads to make necklaces, bracelets and more. Work with simple wire wrapping techniques to make earrings and pendants with beads. Different bead weaving techniques are explored. Although materials are provided, students can bring their own beads to individualize projects.

Print/Paint Combo
Projects will explore ways to combine printmaking and painting techniques on wood, canvas and paper. Techniques will include Xerox transfers, monoprinting, relief methods, silk screening in combination with acrylic painting to create layered and dynamic effects.
