This class will introduce students to relief printmaking, an artistic process consisting of cutting away a print surface in such a way that all that remains of the original surface is a design which is “inked” and printed/stamped on to paper. Participants will experiment with various materials and techniques. Please wear older clothes and shoes as they may get messy or stained. This class is for Teens age 12-15.

You are guided through the basics of creating a fused glass object by one of our talented teaching artists. A paying adult must accompany all children ages 11 and under. Teens, age 12-15, do not need a parent/guardian to stay, but they MUST be reachable in case of emergencies. Projects will be ready two weeks from the class date. Students will learn various techniques and mediums to bring their creative ideas to life, creating original characters, unique locations, and engaging narratives. Learn to draw objects of all different sizes, shapes, and textures with graphite and charcoal in this workshop led by LUX Artist-in-Residence Madison Svendgard. All materials are provided. This workshop is for beginning through advanced Adults Age 16+.
In this workshop, students will explore the fundamentals of drawing florals with colored pencils. Topics include color theory and techniques such as stippling, hatching, cross-hatching, back and forth stroke, and scumbling. You will use these techniques to layer colors over top of one another to create smooth blends and gradations of color. Reference photos will be available, but participants are welcome to bring their own. All materials provided. This class is for Adults 16+.
Join artist Pamela Conyers-Hinson for a creative workshop inspired by her current exhibition, Black Girl JuJu Magic. Using various materials; magazines, trinkets, crafting supplies participants will create collage works that tell their stories, celebrate their histories, or are just beautiful. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring personal images and items to incorporate into their projects. This workshop is for Adults 16+.
Explore your voice through creative expression! Expressions of Art and Hope is a series of free art classes for individuals living with and beyond cancer. These classes are usually held the second Monday of each month in collaboration with CHI Health/St. Elizabeth and the LUX Center for the Arts. All participants must register individually. Classes take place at the LUX Center for the Arts from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
In this 4-week class, students will learn the basics of linocut relief printmaking. This beginner friendly medium is a favorite among all skill levels due to the ease or carving linoleum. Students will create 1-2 relief prints in this course. Please bring a reference image if desired. All materials are provided. This class is for Adults 16+.
