Nearly 300 people attended Eat - Drink - Art, the LUX Center for the Arts' annual benefit art auction, April 27 at Nebraska Innovation Campus.

Artists, patrons of the LUX, collectors and LUX supporters joined in to bid on 160 works of art, in a variety of mediums, up for auction. The event raised more than $70,000 for the programs at LUX Center for the Arts.

The LUX awarded its annual Duncan Art Champion Award to Tom and Sue Tallman, who have supported art in Lincoln and throughout Nebraska, and who support the LUX in many ways, including graciously opening their home for LUX events. Tom also served on the LUX board for six years, including time as board treasurer.

"We are grateful for their support of art and artists, and their support of the LUX," said LUX Executive Director Joe Shaw. "They've made Lincoln a better place through their generosity and support for the art."

This year is the 10th anniversary of LUX's Art Van outreach program, which takes classes to hospitals, senior centers, schools including for Lincoln low-income elementary schools at no charge, and to the Lancaster County Youth Services facility.

"The LUX is grateful to our sponsors whose support funds the LUX's programs," said Shaw. "They understand the positive effects of arts education in Lincoln and are helping the LUX educate the next generation of artists, leaders, and creative thinkers."
