Pedro Agüero Arroyo and Eric Savaiano join LUX as the organization marks its 50th anniversary year

LUX Center for the Arts, Lincoln's community arts center, today announced the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors: Pedro Agüero Arroyo, Assistant Professor of Practice in Management at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Architecture, and Eric Savaiano, Economic Justice Program Manager for Food and Nutrition Access at Nebraska Appleseed.

The appointments come as LUX celebrates 50 years of bringing visual arts education, exhibitions, and creative programming to the people of Lincoln.

Pedro Agüero Arroyo brings a multidisciplinary perspective shaped by careers in both management and architecture. With more than 15 years of experience working across budgets, operations, and program design in nonprofit and public-sector settings, he is known for approaching organizational challenges from multiple angles.

"I want to serve on the LUX Board of Directors because I see art as one of the highest expressions of human ingenuity and culture," said Agüero Arroyo. "Through art, individuals and communities express themselves, create meaning, form their identity, and critically engage with the world."

Eric Savaiano joins the board after years as a LUX family member. He and his family have participated in summer camps, classes, and First Friday receptions, and he brings hands-on nonprofit leadership experience from his work at Nebraska Appleseed and prior board service with other community organizations.

"I have a long history of nonprofit program management and a helpful perspective on LUX summer camps, kids' classes, and workshops," said Savaiano. "I want to support leadership and make LUX staff and programs as strong as possible."

LUX Executive Director Joe Shaw welcomed both new members, noting their combined experience and shared commitment to the organization's mission.

"Both Pedro and Eric bring extensive nonprofit expertise and a real desire to help LUX Center for the Arts, Lincoln's community art center, fulfill our mission of making art available to everyone in our community," said Shaw.

Agüero Arroyo and Savaiano join LUX's board at a pivotal moment, as the organization builds on five decades of community impact and looks ahead to its next chapter of growth in arts education, public art, and creative placemaking in Lincoln's University Place neighborhood.
