Tell me a Story
Tell me a Story
I create mixed media sculpture and installation examining the volatility of internal narrative and the ramifications of our desire to believe we’re good people. Working primarily in ceramics, metalworking, and printmaking, I build up cluttered, dense, and intricate texture as visual evidence of ritualized habits and obsessive rumination. With the belief that specificity begets universality, I reassemble my memories, emotions, and contemplations into stories told through a nihilist framework. Prioritizing these stories often leads to the inclusion of additional media, such as found objects, illustration, and hair. I present work within narrative structures and conventions from books, comics, and television to provide familiar structures for viewers to unravel each tale. While each work can stand alone, I delight in crafting installations with my pieces to build immersive settings for every story.
