Mari Gades
Mari Gades is a senior at Colorado College at the base of the Rocky Mountains. She studies psychology and drama, and has been the creator of Plaidypus designs for six years. Mari has been crocheting for eight years, sewing for seven, and finding interesting things to do with recycled objects all of her life.
The seed that eventually became Plaidypus was planted Christmas of 2007 when a pair of handwarmers was given as a gift. After being told those fuzzy fingerless mittens could be sold, Plaidypus was born. Using mostly recycled materials—such as old t-shirts, jeans, neckties, and wool sweaters—Plaidypus creates unique, funky, and eco-friendly accessories. All patterns are original from the inspiration found in other artists, everyday objects, and (of course) the Internet. Plaidypus strives to provide a splash of functional pizzazz to your wardrobe!
