I am inspired by almost anything that catches my eye and sustains my attention. I really like Japanese paper and textile patterns, Art Nouveau, children’s drawings, tattoos, and the natural world in general, and light, I pay a lot of attention to the quality of light. Sometimes words or phrases spark things for me. As for my style, I focus on contrast, color, and line. I am really into line. I like to mix things that are stylistically dissimilar, like realistic drawings and flat planes of color or collaged elements. My process is pretty intuitive and I try not to over think or analyze my stylistic decisions. I just go with what seems right in the moment. I also like to experiment and try different techniques and approaches. I stick with a something as long as it flows, and when the work feels stilted, I move on to something else. I don’t like to have to work for ideas or spend a lot of time trying to figure out what to do next.
