Everyone has a story and creating figures from clay allows me to create a world in which a story can unfold and convey connections in and between people.  By creating tableware incorporating the figure it pays homage to the people and their stories that have met at my table and become the fabric of my life.  When a piece goes to someone else the story extends beyond the walls of my home and becomes the tapestry of someone else's life.
The functional ware is slab built with stoneware clay  then layering glazes, underglazes, and oxides to add depth and fired at cone 04. A glazing technique that encourages crazing on the exterior of the piece adds more dimension to the surface.  The pieces become a bit like a sketch- textural and spontaneous- providing enough details to draw the viewer in, but leaving individual interpretation.
