When Robins Appear
When Robins Appear
When Robins Appear is an exhibition that deals with anxiety about the future while also consulting feelings of the past, blending the two together into compositions of the present. The pieces in this show take some of Coffey’s established symbology and push images of hope and uncertainty. The contrast of terror, confusion, and rage with belief, love, and faith of good things to come are translated across drawing, ceramics, and textiles. The folk belief “when robins appear, loved ones are near” reminds us that even in the depths of grief, we are not alone.
