The Color of Light: Painting with Yellow & Violet
The Color of Light: Painting with Yellow & Violet
Learn to see light as color rather than simply lighter or darker in this limited palette oil painting workshop. Using only yellows, violets, and titanium white, students will paint from a still life while discovering how warm light, cool shadows, and complementary colors create depth, atmosphere, and vibrant neutral colors. Artist in Residence Alex Renbarger will demonstrate how to mix a full range of values and colors from a surprisingly limited palette while discussing color temperature and expressive lighting throughout the painting process. Rather than learning color theory through lecture, students will discover these ideas by painting from observation. No experience necessary. All materials are provided. This class is for adults ages 16+.
Pre-registration required.
NOTE: An art class or workshop running is contingent on a minimum of 3 participants being enrolled 48 hours prior to the scheduled class/workshop. Cancellation notices will be emailed, and you may respond with an alternate class/workshop choice or request a refund. You’re encouraged to invite a friend to ensure that your class/workshop runs.
