Intro to Coil Building (Level 1)
Intro to Coil Building (Level 1)
Learn the fundamentals and refine your handbuilding skills in this 4-week class taught by Artist-In-Residence David Kruk. One of the oldest and most versatile techniques in the history of ceramics, coil building utilizes hand-rolled ropes of clay that are joined together to create form. This class will focus on the technique of coiling and pinching to construct ceramic vessels. Participants will learn how to roll and attach coils, utilize banding wheels, use fans and heat guns to control the dryness of the clay, build taller forms and create larger volumes, use paddles to refine shape, implement surface design and texture, and glaze their work. All materials and kiln firings are included. This workshop is for Adults 16+. No experience necessary.
Pre-registration is required.
NOTE: An art class or workshop running is contingent on a minimum of 3 participants enrolled 48 hours prior to the scheduled class/workshop. Cancellation notices will be emailed, and you may respond with an alternate class/workshop choice or request a refund. You are encouraged to invite a friend to ensure that your class/workshop runs!
