Virtual Parties
Let your creativity come to life with a virtual party with LUX Center for the Arts!
Parties last two hours and include a 1 1/2 hour artist-led project and 1/2 hour to open gifts. Parties start at $120 for 6 particiapants, $20 for each additional. The party host is expected to pick up and distribute the art supplies to their guests, or have guests pick up their supply kits at LUX during business hours. Our artists provide all the instruction during the virtual party and kiln firing after if needed. Parties are typically on Zoom, LUX has a premium account for party use if needed.
Scheduling
Parties can happen anytime our teaching artists are available. Please fill out the online form at least two weeks in advance so we can coordinate the date, time, and instructor.
Activities
Clay
- Create your own handbuilt clay pot or sculpture! Popular projects include cups, bowls and mugs. A small selection of glazes will be provided to decorate. This activity requires supplies to be pick up at LUX and finished projects to be dropped off after the party. Projects are fired and available to be picked up from the LUX within two weeks. Leftover supplies and tools can be returned or kept.
Painting
- Get creative with tempera, or acrylic paints! One 12″x12″ canvas is provided for each participant as well as a selection of paints and brushes. Students can each paint their own idea with the aid of our artist or the group can work on the same pre-determined design. Leftover supplies and tools can be returned or kept.
Foil Art
- Using copper or silver colored foil we will create unique textured art pieces. This technique is sometimes referred to as tooling, embossing, or tin art, and has its roots in Mexican folk art. Two 6”x6” foil sheets will be provided per student. Permanent markers are included in the supply kits for each participant to keep.
Printmaking
- Make your own custom stamps! One 4x6″ rubber block is provided for each participant as well as a carving tool, ink, a small sponge, disposable tray, and paper. Students can each carve their own idea with the aid of our artist or the group can work on the same pre-determined design. Leftover supplies and tools can be returned or kept.
