Biography

Charley Friedman is a Pollock-Krasner grant recipient, Smack Mellon Hot Picks artist and two-time Rema Hort nominee.  He received his MFA from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts/Tufts University, Boston and Skowhegan School.   Friedman has exhibited and performed at numerous galleries and institutions including PS1/MoMA, Queens Museum, Gallery Diet, The Fabric Workshop, Volta NYC, Joslyn Museum, Jack Tilton Gallery, Neues Kunstforum and last summer, OMI International Art Center.   Residencies include The MacDowell Colony, Fountain Head, Cooper Union and the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts. Selected publications include: The New York Times, Wall Street Journal.  Collections include: Walker Art Center, Brooklyn Museum, New York Public Library, Stanford University, Sheldon Museum of Art, Duncan Collection, Goldman Collection to name a few.  This past summer, Friedman had an extensive show of his work spanning 20 years at the Arts and Culture Center, Hollywood FL.  This Fall, Friedman will participate in Art In Odd Places in New York and followed by a two-person show at the Paul W. Zuccaire Galley at Stony Brook University with his wife, Nancy Friedemann.

Having spent 20 years in Brooklyn NY, Friedman primarily works and lives with his family in Lincoln NE.  Friedman is co-director of Fiendish Plots; an exhibition space that he co-directs with Ms. Friedemann.
