Title: Development Associate
 Hours: Full-time, 35 - 40 hours per week
Compensation: $26/hr


Position Summary:  
The Development Associate will, under supervision of the Executive Director and Director of Operations and Programs, focus on maintaining and growing donor relationships, and supporting all fundraising efforts at the LUX. This work will involve ownership of the donor database and managing donor relationships such as donor appreciation initiatives. This position will work to identify new funding opportunities as well as execute on current programming, including supporting successful execution of the annual appeal and annual art auction event. The Development Associate will have the opportunity to work across all teams in the organization as a collaborative partner and will be involved in supporting all activities of the LUX, including public art events, First Friday openings and other programming as needed.

Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain all donors using the Bloomerang application.
  • Track donations from all sources and ensure accurate recording.
  • Execute the donor appreciation program, including thank-you cards.
  • Research leads for new individual giving and sponsorship donors.
  • Seek out and secure sponsorships for individual programs and events.
  • Act as point of contact for all donor-related public communication.
  • Track and report on progress towards fundraising goals.
  • Research and evaluate new fundraising strategies.
  • Track board member pledges.
  • Support the development and execution of the annual appeal campaign in coordination with the Executive Director and marketing team.
  • Support planning and execution of the art auction.
  • Support grant writing activities in coordination with the Executive Director.
  • Attend organizational events throughout the year, such as First Fridays, Summerfest, annual art auction, and more.
  • Engage in other activities that support the operations of the LUX as needed.
     

Qualifications: 

  • Highly organized and able to facilitate timely execution of multiple short- and long-term tasks on a daily basis.
  • Strong communicator who is able to convey feedback clearly, and is willing to ask clarifying questions.
  • Courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with a variety of stakeholders, including donors, board members, staff, volunteers and members of the public.
  • Storyteller able to translate the daily work of an organization into a connecting message to a variety of stakeholder groups.
  • Strong attention to detail and able to track, compare and proofread databases, metrics and lists of information with an eye for accuracy and consistency.
  • Curious and solution-oriented with a focus on seeking opportunities rather than focusing on barriers.
  • Collaborative team player who is open to giving and receiving feedback while contributing positively towards a shared vision.
  • Appreciation for the arts, arts education and the importance of art as a means to build connections between communities.
  • A willingness to support activities not outlined in the above duties as needed with a positive attitude so that we can meet the ever-changing needs of a dynamic and growing non-profit environment.


Requirements: 

  • At least two years of experience in fundraising, donor management, individual giving or similar applicable experience.
  • Experience using a donor management system such as Bloomerang, or applicable experience using similar database applications.
  • Experience in communications, social media, print media or similar.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Teams) preferred.
  • Financial literacy skills, especially understanding budgeting and funding targets.
