Go Big Read Together: Reading Through Art
Go Big Read Together: Reading Through Art
This interactive evening brings together two of Linked2Literacy's community-wide efforts:
• The House on Mango Street Project
• Go Big Read Week, in partnership with Nebraska Athletics
Families will engage with Hyphen – American: Intersections of Identity, Sheldon Museum of Art’s Spring 2026 exhibition celebrating the United States Semiquincentennial. The exhibition explores “hyphenated” American identities and the intersections of culture, lived experience, history, and community.
What families can expect:
• Guided gallery experiences connected to The House on Mango Street, with docents prompting conversation through art and text
• Cultural and community organizations in the main hall reading and sharing lived experiences with families
• A community space with writing prompts, notebooks, and a cozy reading area hosted by Nebraska Athletes
• A hands-on art station with a buffet of materials for self-portrait creation for all ages
• A creative activities table hosted by the LUX Center for the Arts, offering an engaging, hands-on art experience for families
• Potential food trucks or snacks (details coming soon)
This event is designed for parents/guardians and children to attend together and emphasizes inclusion, accessibility, and joyful connection through reading and art.
