Biography

2004   Nebraska Wesleyan University -  BFA

Jeanie has been making jewelry for over 25 years.  In the beginning, she taught herself to weave seed beads to make intricately patterned earrings.  Years later, while shopping for beads, the owner showed her how to use an Eye Pin with a bead, which involves the technique of wire wrapping and a whole new world of possibilities opened. Her passion for beads and fashion runs deep.  With her fine arts major that supplied her with training in painting, ceramics, and photography, her artistic nature lured her to channel her creativity with the bead.  After college she worked in the fashion industry as a model scout.  The compliments she received when she wore her designs led her to discover she could sell her designs.  She began to sell her work online and in specialty boutiques.  Currently, she sells her work exclusively at the LUX Gallery Shop.  She’s also the Gallery Shop Manager, so if you’re ever there, say hi!  She loves to meet new people in the community and discuss all matters related to art and art making.

Artist Statement

Jeanie’s favorite materials to use are re-purposed vintage beads and bobbles.  She says, “It’s great fun to deconstruct a once unused, vintage necklace and turn it into a fresh and modern pair of earrings!”  She loves to hunt at bead bazaars for unique beads and online for gemstones, crystals or rare finds made from acrylic, wood, or metal.  Bold and bright colors are her favorite to express the fun you will be having when you wear her designs.  They are like a party for your ears!
