Position Summary:
The Education Programs Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of all educational programs offered at the LUX. The Education Programs Manager collaborates with other department staff members to provide a comprehensive art education curriculum, ensuring that all programming fulfills the mission and vision of the LUX Center for the Arts.
Responsibilities:
- Implements, oversees, and evaluates the execution of all arts education programming. This includes all on-campus programming, off-site outreach, community partnership events and similar education related programming needs.
- Manages the work of education program specialists and volunteers, including recruitment, training, task delegation, scheduling, and communication.
- Oversees the hiring, onboarding, evaluating, and coaching of instructors, interns and volunteers who teach our classes.
- Oversees volunteer networks and cultivates relationships with community resources.
- Tracks and evaluates programming effectiveness with a focus on improving offerings, enrollment, and profitability year over year.
- Collaborates with executive team, program specialists, ceramic center manager and artists-in-residence to create a formal education catalog of courses.
- Collaborates with Gallery Specialist to create and implement education and engagement opportunities which enhance exhibition scheduling.
- Coordinates annual community events such as Summer Fest, Emerge Mural Festival, Surface Impressions, and other large-scale engagement opportunities.
- Responsible for timely execution of administrative duties surrounding execution of education programming.
- Coordinate and facilitate spring break and summer camp programming.
- Oversee education wing classroom equipment, inventory, purchases and upkeep of classroom spaces.
- Represents the education program to the public as needed while upholding the values of the LUX in speech and action.
- Primary liaison for inquiries and questions about education programming.
- Manage campus building access for instructors and students.
- Collaborates with all other teams as required to ensure programming information is available for marketing, board meetings and staff meetings.
- Teaching classes or leading workshops is not a primary duty assigned to this role but may be required on a limited basis.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner with a diverse network of individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Knowledge of lesson planning, teaching strategies and art education practices.
- Basic computer skills, proficiency with MS Office Suite and database systems; willingness to learn specialized computer applications as needed.
- Operates and engages others with an attitude of versatility, energy, curiosity, enthusiasm, empathy, flexibility, and respect.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule; willingness to travel periodically, and work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Education and Experience:
- Master's degree in education preferred.
- 2 years' relevant experience in education programming.
- 2 years of teaching or tutoring in the visual arts for grades pre-k through 12.
- 2 years of personnel and volunteer management experience, or similar.
- Event planning experience.
- Valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, bending, stretching.
- Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Hybrid work environment (in office, in community, and remote).
- Ability to travel to various community locations as needed.
- Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.

About the LUX Center for the Arts
The LUX Center for the Arts makes art happen in Lincoln. In our classrooms, youth and adults discover the joys of pottery, printmaking, painting, jewelry, drawing and more. Throughout the year our Outreach Program takes art classes to at-risk youth, low-income schools, cancer patients and others that benefit from having a first-hand art experience. The LUX galleries and shop represent the highest caliber work of local, regional, and national artists, exhibited in more than 18 shows annually.
