Shaping LUX's Next 50.
In 1977, a small group of Lincoln artists and educators opened the doors of what would become LUX Center for the Arts. They couldn't have known how many lives would be shaped by what they began. They only knew that art belonged in the heart of their community.
Fifty years later, we are asking our supporters to help shape the next 50.
In 2025, an anonymous LUX supporter established the Next 50 Fund with a founding gift of $50,000. When asked why, they said simply:
"Gladys Lux imagined a place open to the community—a place where people could feel at home and enjoy the arts. That vision became LUX Center for the Arts. My gift is to make sure it always remains."
That single gift opened a door. The Next 50 Fund is an endowed fund that sustains arts education, artist opportunities, community engagement, and the long-term sustainability of LUX—so that the doors stay open for generations to come.
Every donor who documents a legacy gift to LUX becomes a founding member of The 1977 Society, with permanent recognition on the Legacy Wall. Membership is based on documented intent—not dollar amount.
Our goal: 50 new members of The 1977 Society by the close of our 50th anniversary year.
How to Join:
A legacy gift may be made through a bequest in your will, a beneficiary designation on a retirement account or life insurance policy, an IRA charitable rollover, or other planned giving vehicles.
