Education Wing: Dolezal Studio

In this workshop, Jewelya Coffey, current 2D Artist-in-Residence at the LUX Center for the Arts, will teach the basics of creating trace monotypes, a process she uses regularly to begin a drawing. A trace monotype is a printmaking process that involves drawing on paper laid over an inked plate. The pressure of the pencil transfers ink to the paper, creating a unique print. These specific monotypes will be used with oil paint, which makes it a print, painting, and drawing all in one. Coffey's process incorporates many layers as well as colored pencils on top.
