Create your own tiny handmade spellbooks while learning the fundamentals of bookbinding in a single workshop. Students will be introduced to the entire bookbinding process, from folding pages and preparing signatures to sewing decorative bindings and assembling finished books. To make the process approachable in one session, materials will be prepared ahead of time, allowing more time to focus on the creative aspects of binding and design.

Create original two-dimensional scenes full of life through layered felt. Build your composition through shape, color, and layering rather than fine detail. Design from your imagination, be inspired by the many reference images provided, or bring your own. By considering foreground, middle ground, background, and negative space, you'll discover how a few simple shapes can create a convincing sense of depth. Artist in Residence Alex Renbarger will demonstrate how to simplify complex images into bold shapes, exaggerate color, and build space through layering.

Learn the basics of needle felting by creating your own spooky character. Students will start with a simple base form and transform it into ghosts, black cats, pumpkins, or other eerie creations using layered wool and expressive details. To add an extra touch, participants will have the option to suspend their finished pieces with clear thread, giving them a floating, ghost-like effect. No experience necessary. All materials are provided. This class is for adults ages 16+.

Paint by lamplight in a darkened studio while learning the fundamentals of oil painting in a single sitting. Students will create a loose, gestural painting that emphasizes value rather than fine detail. Working with only black and white oil paint allows students to focus on developing a full range of values to create depth and form.

This workshop teaches participants to plan and carve a linoleum relief block and learn the tips and tricks for inking and printing successfully. Participants will do a preliminary plan for design, carving, and printing their blocks.  No experience necessary.  All materials provided.  This class is for adults ages 16+.

Learn how to create your own watercolor paints from pigment to palette in this hands-on workshop. Students will mix custom colors using traditional materials while learning how different ingredients affect texture and performance, then test their paints through swatching and simple exercises before using them to create a small, expressive painting. This workshop emphasizes experimentation, discovery, and a deeper understanding of watercolor materials, and students will take home their custom paints to continue using after class. No experience necessary. All materials are provided.
