Carlie Antes
Carlie Antes
Carlie Antes received both her BFA in Ceramics (2020) and MFA in Sculpture (2023) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 2024, she was selected to serve as Assistant Professor of Practice and 3-D Design Foundations Coordinator at UNL’s School of Art, Art History, and Design. Her work explores biological and ecological structures set alongside human inventions and behavior. As a sculptor, Antes utilizes the physical matter of her lived experiences to serve as visual placeholders for people, places, memories, and emotions.
As an artist, educator, and mother of three, Antes is committed to simultaneously developing her studio practice in rural Nebraska—while also working to provide opportunities for young creatives. With her work and process deeply rooted in handcraft, Antes has taught a number of workshops—incorporating off-loom hand-weaving techniques, using wire as the primary medium.
