Surface Impressions: Coloratura
Surface Impressions: Coloratura
The LUX Center for the Arts, in partnership with Constellation Studios, presents Surface Impressions: Coloratura, the fourth biennial exhibition of contemporary relief printmaking. This international juried exhibition features hand-produced relief prints, including woodblock, linoleum cut, wood engraving, and mixed media relief works by artists from across the world.
Surface Impressions highlights the continued relevance of relief printmaking as a dynamic and adaptable medium, showcasing a wide range of approaches to carving, printing, and color. The 2026 theme, Coloratura, emphasizes experimentation with color, layering, and surface, revealing how artists use relief processes to create bold visual impact and nuanced material expression.
Prints in this exhibition are selected through an open call and juried by Janine Wong, a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and printmaker whose work explores color, systems, and abstraction.
Cash prizes for the top three winners will be awarded. One print will be selected for acquisition by the Sheldon Museum of Art in Lincoln.
Opening Receptions:
July 10, 2026
August 7, 2026 (with juror Janine Wong in attendance)
