Hot Wax: Cool Texture- Encaustic Painting with Margaret Berry
Learn the magic of building unique painting textures with encaustic wax. Encaustic, composed of beeswax, hardened tree sap, and oil pigment is applied hot and fused to create translucent and striking surfaces. Participants will be able to try brushing and dripping as well as using stencils and molds for quick results. This class is taught by Lincoln studio artist Margaret Berry, who has taught encaustic processes for over 2 decades. She is an artist-in-residence with the Nebraska Arts Council and was selected for the first residency at the Cornhusker Hotel. She was a founding member of the International Encaustic Artists and shows her work around the U.S.
All skills levels can enjoy this process and all materials are provided. Preregistration is required. This class is for ages 12+
NOTE: An art class or workshop running is contingent on a minimum of 4 participants enrolled 48 hours prior to the scheduled class/workshop. Cancellation notices will be emailed, and you may respond with an alternate class/workshop choice or request a refund. You are encouraged to invite a friend to ensure that your class/workshop runs!
