Paint by lamplight in a darkened studio while learning the fundamentals of oil painting in a single sitting. Students will create a loose, gestural painting that emphasizes value rather than fine detail. Working with only black and white oil paint allows students to focus on developing a full range of values to create depth and form.
Artist in Residence Alex Renbarger will demonstrate the entire painting process alongside the class, completing an oil painting from start to finish within the three-hour workshop, beginning by loosely sketching the composition, building up value through the dramatic shadows, and finishing with the final highlights.
Artists of all experience levels are welcome, including those with no prior oil painting experience. All materials are provided. This class is for adults ages 16+.

NOTE: An art class or workshop running is contingent on a minimum of 3 participants being enrolled 48 hours prior to the scheduled class/workshop.
