Learn the basics of punch needle while designing and creating your own handmade mug rug, a slightly larger textile coaster perfect for your favorite drink. Combining the looped texture of rug making with the precision of embroidery, punch needle creates colorful, textured designs using either yarn for bold, graphic compositions or embroidery floss for finer detail. Artist in Residence Alex Renbarger will demonstrate the entire process, from transferring a design and using the punch needle tool to securing and finishing your piece with a felt backing. No experience necessary. All materials are provided. This class is for adults ages 16+.
