This creative camp for youth ages 9-11 focuses on clay arts, teaching basic hand-building techniques like slab building, coiling, and pinching to create both sculptural and functional pottery. More advanced students can work on personalized projects with guidance from the instructor. Possible projects include pots, boxes, plates, animals, and garden gnomes. All materials, tools, and firing are provided. Participants should wear clothes that can get messy. Projects will be available for pickup at the LUX building about two weeks after the camp ends.

Grab your family or friends or venture out on your own and start your weekend creating functional or sculptural handbuilt pottery! In this all ages class, LUX teaching artisits will instruct participants in techniques to make a slab built cocoa or coffee cup. Participants will glaze their creations on the second week of class with various colored glazes.

This camp is all about animals and will introduce basic hand building techniques to students so they can create animal and nature inspired artwork out of slabs, coils, and pinching. Students can choose from a wide variety of animals and may also learn fun facts about the animals they create!

In this intermediate class, participants will explore several ways to decorate clay works using image transfers created with a variety of drawing, painting and printmaking methods. We will use stencils, screen-printing and Gelli Plates to design our one-of-a-kind transfers.

This class will introduce students to the fundamentals of building sculptures out of clay. More advanced students will have time to hone their own style and skills. All clay, glazes, tools, and firing provided. Students also have access to the studio during open hours throughout this six-week class.
