In this 4-week course, students will work together to create artwork that can be used to raise funds for a cause of their choice. Throughout, students will learn different methods of creating designs that share their unique voices and help to create meaningful change in their community through the creation of linocut prints, zines/books, postcards, and stickers. The class will culminate with a First Friday show on November 7th in the Education Wing at LUX where students will be able to display their art made in the class and raise donations for the charity of thei
This 4-week course, taught by LUX Artist-in-Residence Madison Svendgard, will allow students to experiment with a wide range of materials including acrylic paint, watercolor, gouache, colored pencil, and pen and ink. Students will also discover ways to incorporate various materials to make a cohesive work of art. Students will have the option to work on multiple pieces throughout the course, or focus on one piece. Please provide any reference materials that are desired. All art materials are provided. This class is for Adults 16+.

En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air,” and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist's subject in full view. In this weekly drop-in workshop, participants will be introduced to landscape drawing and flora/fauna drawing en plain air using various pens, brush pens, graphite pencils, etc.
