Advanced Wheel Throwing: Condiment Containers & Dishes
Advanced Wheel Throwing: Condiment Containers & Dishes
This 8-week advanced pottery class is designed for experienced ceramic artists interested in creating specialty kitchen and serving ware for condiments. Students will focus on throwing, altering, and refining functional forms such as butter dishes, oil cruets, honey jars, salt and pepper shakers, cream and sugar, and multipart serving dishes. Students will make work with an emphasis on consistency, ergonomics, and intentional design. Advanced surface techniques, glazing strategies, and firing considerations for functional ware will be explored, culminating in a set of condiment containers and dishes suitable for your kitchen.
Whether you're looking to refine your skills or explore new shapes and ideas, this course offers the perfect balance of technical challenge and creative inspiration.
This class will use stoneware and conclude with a cone 6 electric and/or a cone 10 gas reduction firing. One bag of commercial stoneware, kiln firings, and related glazes are included.
