You are guided through the basics of working on the pottery wheel in this fun and messy workshop! Please come dressed ready to make a mess! An adult must participate in the workshop – the tuition fee covers one individual and you must register for each adult and child attending. Classes are appropriate for ages 5-10. Adults with students ages 5-8 work together on one wheel. Students ages 9+ get their own wheel. Pots will be clear glazed and ready about two weeks after the workshop.

Kickstart your weekend with creativity! This class will introduce beginning students to the fundamentals of the pottery wheel and allow more students time to hone their skills. All materials and a fresh pot of coffee from Mo Java Café are provided!

An introduction to the fundamentals of the pottery wheel for students that have never experienced it before! Students will use earthenware clay and low-fire glazes. All materials and kiln firings are included. For students 16+.

A quick and dirty class that lets you dip your toe into the basics of wheel-thrown pottery. This three-week ceramics course is designed for people with no background in clay looking to experience the wheel in an easy and no-stress environment. This class is a wonderful way to familiarize yourself with our studios and begin joining our community! Students will use earthenware clay and low-fire glazes. All materials and kiln firings are included.

Saturday from 12pm-2pm wheel throwing instruction will be provided for young artists 10 -15 years old. 

LUX Teaching Artists will provide instruction and inspiration as children learn the basics of the pottery wheel! Participants are welcome to come every week or as few as 2 weeks to have work fired. 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Learn to use the pottery wheel! The first class will focus on the fundamentals of starting a project on the wheel and the basic knowledge needed to master this essential step. Each subsequent class session will cover additional throwing and finishing techniques. Beginning and experienced students are welcome; more experienced students can work with the instructor to explore their own ideas. This class takes place in the Ceramics Center located in the building just west of the LUX parking lot. *Repeatable.
