Oil Painting 1: Fundamentals
Oil Painting 1: Fundamentals
Learn the fundamentals of oil painting through a guided, step-by-step process. Students will begin by creating a master copy of a painting by an artist such as Vincent van Gogh or Claude Monet, allowing them to focus on core skills like color mixing, value, and paint handling without the pressure of designing their own composition.
Artist in Residence Alex Renbarger will introduce essential techniques including underpainting, transferring an image onto the canvas, working with brushes and mediums, and building a painting from large shapes to smaller details. Students may choose from the references provided or bring their own. By the end of the course, participants will have a strong foundation in oil painting and the confidence to begin their own work. No experience necessary. All materials are provided. This workshop is for Adults 16+.
Pre-registration required.
NOTE: An art class or workshop running is contingent on a minimum of 3 participants being enrolled 48 hours prior to the scheduled class/workshop.
