Herring Studio

Students will work with copper, nickel, and brass to learn how to shape, form and fuse metal! Make your own jewelry and art while learning to create texture with the rolling mill, attach with an acetylene torch, and finish your own unique metal projects. 

Please wear older clothes and shoes as they may get messy or stained. Visit LUXcenter.org/camps for full details on camp policies.

Learn to use a variety of art techniques and materials! Each class will focus on learning about a new art medium and creating a finishing a piece of your own. Clay, painting, drawing, and mixed media will be explored.

Students in this class will learn how to bind books using two different stab binding techniques. This class will cover general bookmaking knowledge as well as how to create book covers.

Explore the versatility of metalsmithing and make your own jewelry! This class will cover casting using bronze metal clay as well as using colorful enamels on copper. No experience necessary. All supplies and tools are provided.

Build your own sterling silver pendant! Learn how to bezel set a cabochon stone and take home your own beautiful wearable art. This is an intermediate class; you must have experience soldering. All supplies and tools are provided.

Explore your voice through creative expression! Expressions of Art and Hope is a series of free art classes for individuals living with and beyond cancer. All participants must register individually. Classes take place at the LUX Center for the Arts.

Get your family, friends or date together for a fun night of hands-on artmaking! You are guided through the basics of the project by one of our talented teaching artists. 

For youth, an adult must participate in the workshop – the tuition fee covers one individual and you must register for each adult and child attending. Pre-registration is required. Clay and glass projects will be ready two weeks from the class date.
