Painting Dramatic Shadows
Painting Dramatic Shadows
Explore light and shadow through a focused, single-session painting workshop. A still life with dramatic lighting will be set up as the subject, allowing students to study strong contrasts and bold shapes of light and dark while working on easels with a limited color palette. Participants will create a loose, gestural painting that emphasizes value over detail. Artist in Residence Alex Renbarger will demonstrate the process from a quick, expressive sketch to building up values in paint. Students may work in oil or acrylic and are welcome to bring an object to include in the still life. No experience necessary. All materials are provided. This class is for adults ages 16+.
Pre-registration required.
NOTE: An art class or workshop running is contingent on a minimum of 3 participants being enrolled 48 hours prior to the scheduled class/workshop. Cancellation notices will be emailed, and you may respond with an alternate class/workshop choice or request a refund. You’re encouraged to invite a friend to ensure that your class/workshop runs.
