Illustrating with Felt
Illustrating with Felt
Create original two-dimensional scenes full of life through layered felt. Build your composition through shape, color, and layering rather than fine detail. Design from your imagination, be inspired by the many reference images provided, or bring your own. By considering foreground, middle ground, background, and negative space, you'll discover how a few simple shapes can create a convincing sense of depth. Artist in Residence Alex Renbarger will demonstrate how to simplify complex images into bold shapes, exaggerate color, and build space through layering. Once the main composition is complete, students are welcome to add texture and detail using optional techniques such as needle felting, embroidery, punch needle, or any combination of materials that inspires them. This workshop emphasizes composition, color relationships, and texture while introducing a unique approach to image making. No experience necessary. All materials are provided. This class is for adults ages 16+.
Pre-registration required.
NOTE: An art class or workshop running is contingent on a minimum of 3 participants being enrolled 48 hours prior to the scheduled class/workshop.
